Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last couple years, you’ve probably come across a video on Tik Tok or IG of someone being draped in color after color - “Finding their Season”. Like all great trends, Color Analysis has resurrected from the 1980’s archive and is the newest viral sensation.
So… what is Color Analysis anyway and how impactful can COLOR be? You’re about to find out!
Hi – I’m Debie Grass – an Image Consultant and the owner of “Image Matters”, a local style consulting company who helps individuals elevate their Image and learn how to look their best. I offer many consultations that answer questions for my clients like:
1. What clothing styles work best for my body type?
2. What shape/size sunglasses work best my face?
3. What’s my style personality?
4. Should I have a side part or center part?
5. How can I create a wardrobe that I love?
6. What size handbag is best for me?
And yes – “what is my seasonal color palette?” - my most popular service!
In fact, I always recommend every client start with a color analysis session because it’s THAT impactful! No more wasting money on coloring your hair – the WRONG color - or wearing a lipstick that looks a bit…”off”. Once you learn (and use) your specific color palette – shopping, creating outfits and looking your best becomes so much easier and less time consuming!
The biggest reason why most women have a closet full of clothes – yet “nothing to wear” is because their closet is not a cohesive “system”. Aligning your closet to YOUR specific seasonal color palette takes your closet from “Haphazard” to “Harmonious”.
In Color Analysis, we look at three elements of COLOR and how they relate to your natural landscape (your unique hair, skin and eye color). Based on that, you are categorized into ONE of 12 “seasons”. Each “season” is a family of colors that look best on you in your clothing and makeup.
THREE ELEMENTS OF COLOR
1. Temperature: Warm vs. Cool. The first step in color analysis is to determine your unique undertones.
2. Value: Light vs. Dark. Step 2 is determining whether dark colors over power you or balance you - and vice versa.
Chroma: Vibrant Vs. Muted. The third and final step is determining the level of saturation in the colors that works best for you.
Once we’ve looked at how all three elements relate to you, and complete an extensive draping process, you begin to see how certain types of colors enhance your natural beauty while other colors detract from it.
Many people have a hard time determining how all three elements of color relate to them on their own and will spend thousands of dollars on clothing and makeup that they just cant seem to make work…. and they just can’t figure know why.
Color is really the foundation – you could have the best makeup application skills and buy the latest “on trend” styles, but if you’re using the wrong COLORS, you’re selling yourself short.
And trust me, I was that girl for a long time. I always loved makeup and fashion; however before color analysis, I really didn’t know what worked best for me so I resorted to mimicking influencers and blindly following each new “trend”. Once I understood color analysis, I began working WITH nature – instead of against it. Take a look at my own
personal transformation – before and after color analysis. A slight change in my hair color, different makeup and lighter, cooler clothing has given me a more “effortless” look. It’s not that I looked “bad” before... its simply the difference of going from “good” to “great”.
Understanding my natural features and the colors that enhance them has given me a whole new confidence because I am equipped with the knowledge of what works best for me and most importantly – why it works best. No more mimicking, guessing or trying to fit into a box that was never meant for me.
If you’re ready to learn your best colors, stop wearing things that detract from your natural beauty and take your confidence to a whole new level then color analysis is for you! My “Color Identity” consultation is done in TWO 90min sessions and addresses best colors in your clothing, hair and makeup, best metals (silver vs gold jewelry) and best textures in your fabrics. It truly is an unforgettable experience that will leave you feeling empowered to take control of your Image and really look your best!
